This is a heartbreaking book written about Andrew Bagby and also about his son Zachary by Andrew's dad David Bagby. No one can tell the story as clearly and with as much emotion as his father does in this book. It is gut wrenching to read the details and to hear how much both Andrew and David were loved by both David and his wife. They did everything they could, and more than most would be able to try to find justice for their son, while trying to care for Zachary in the worst possible circumstances. It is scary and shocking and I found myself admiring them in a way I have admired few and wondering how they managed to go on.I found the book after watching the documentary "Dear Zachary" and I would recommend that as well. The book delves even deeper into the tragedies and gives insight into how David and Kate survived the unthinkable. His father writes about it as few could and gives details I am sure he would rather forget. He is honest and straight forward, while being open and letting you peer into their pain, which is at times almost unfathomable. What they have gone on to do in the names of both their son and grandson truly show what amazing people they are and I think most of us can agree we wish we could know them, be more like them, and at the same time, hope we never have to be in their shoes. I have not felt so much for someone I have not met and wished I could ease their suffering. It is an amazing book and it honors two amazing lives.
